OHOS-Supported PBM Reform Legislation Passes Ohio General Assembly Unanimously

The Ohio Hematology Oncology Society (OHOS) is pleased to share that House Bill 229 (HB229) - important legislation focused on Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) reform -has passed the Ohio General Assembly with a unanimous 94–0 vote.

HB229 introduces meaningful oversight and transparency measures for PBMs, including enhanced regulatory authority through the Ohio Department of Insurance and new requirements aimed at improving accountability in prescription drug pricing and reimbursement practices.

For oncology providers and the patients we serve, this legislation represents an important step toward addressing longstanding concerns related to:

  • Transparency in drug pricing

  • Fair reimbursement practices

  • PBM-driven policies that may impact patient access to care

OHOS has been proud to support this legislation and advocate on behalf of our members and their patients throughout the process.

The bill now heads to Governor Mike DeWine for signature.

We thank the members of the Ohio General Assembly for their strong, bipartisan support of this important issue and will continue to keep our members informed as the bill progresses.
