About Us

The Ohio Hematology Oncology Society (OHOS) is a leading voice for Ohio’s oncology community, representing a statewide network of more than 1,300 professionals. Our members include oncologists, hematologists, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, administrators, billers, coders, financial navigators, social workers, patient advocates and others involved in the delivery of cancer care. As a nonprofit organization, OHOS is committed to providing the education, resources, reimbursement support and advocacy our members need to deliver exceptional care to patients with cancer.

The Society collaborates closely with leading organizations to achieve our mission, including ASCO, ACCC, COA, OSMA, NCCN, NOSN, and various patient advocacy groups. We have successfully engaged with the Medicare Contractor Advisory Committee to modify policies regarding chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy infusion. Notably, we advocated for increased reimbursement levels and secured coverage for multiple infusions on the same date of service. Additionally, we played a key role in passing legislation in Ohio that exempts the purchase of chemotherapy drugs from state sales tax.

Our membership is open to practicing oncologists and hematologists, their entire professional teams, academic institutions, and corporate entities involved in the care and treatment of patients with cancer. Together, we form a strong and united community focused on advancing the standards of oncology care throughout the state.
