Areas of Interest

The Ohio Hematology Oncology Society is actively involved in several key areas that support oncology professionals and advance quality cancer care throughout Ohio:

• Legislative and Regulatory Advocacy: Working with state and federal policymakers, government agencies and partner organizations on issues affecting oncology professionals and the patients they serve.
• Patient Access and Advocacy: Identifying and addressing barriers to timely treatment, appropriate therapies, financial assistance and other resources that patients need throughout their cancer journey.
• Reimbursement and Payer Support: Helping members understand and address reimbursement, coverage, coding, prior authorization, credentialing and claims-processing challenges.
• Payer and Agency Engagement: Communicating with commercial health plans, Medicare, Medicaid, regulatory agencies and other stakeholders to promote appropriate coverage, fair reimbursement and workable administrative processes.
• Education and Professional Development: Providing timely clinical, reimbursement, operational, legislative and regulatory education for physicians and the entire multidisciplinary oncology care team.
• Practice and Program Support: Sharing practical information and resources that help oncology practices, hospitals and cancer programs respond to an increasingly complex healthcare environment.
• Networking and Collaboration: Bringing together physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, administrators, financial navigators, reimbursement professionals, patient advocates and industry partners to exchange ideas and develop solutions.
• State and National Partnerships: Collaborating with organizations including ASCO, the Association of Cancer Care Centers, COA, ASH, OSMA and other healthcare and patient advocacy organizations to strengthen Ohio’s voice on issues affecting cancer care.
